Perspective

Photography without perspective is like painting without a brush. Without it, there’s no essence. Each and every individual has their own way of perceiving things. Some may notice the littlest things and find them beautiful, but at the same time, some may notice the things of daily life in a completely unique way. When I started my photography journey, I didn't really know the importance and interdependence of photography and perspective. One of my photos at the beginning was of a tubelight, which I shot by just pointing at it. The more time passed, the more I learned that there are several angles to look at something, and there is no right or wrong when it comes to taking a picture. That's the beauty of photography. I learned that the more shots I tried, the more unique outcomes I got, and I liked it more. It was like an exploration of something completely new.

This really helped me develop my point of view on everything. I started observing even the smallest dot of light, shadows formed by a unique shape, and rays of light from a window falling on an object, which made it illuminate in a magical way. There is no full stop to finding new things.

I started discovering new styles of photography and mixing together various elements. All these led me to abstract photography. That is one of the most creative sides of photography. 'Abstract' doesn't have a defined meaning. Every person has their own set of meanings. Some might see and feel one emotion, while others can see the completely opposite one. The way people perceive the picture makes the photograph come alive. Photography is supposed to be a still moment, but when you take a photograph, all the emotions can be felt, and it feels like we are in the moment. In a way, photography is an art. You create something that some might have never seen. It is not an easy field. There are challenges of their own. Sometimes our mind can go blank, and sometimes we may think that there are no other ways to look at it and capture it in a different way. Sometimes we might get discouraged that the shot that we might have had in mind to shoot might not have come out the way we wanted. All these can easily keep us from trying. But we need to realise that we are humans. We make mistakes, we might have low energy, and sometimes we might not want to pick up the camera or do what we love. That's okay to feel that way. But this should never stop anyone from pushing.

This field is very creative, and a comparison of people's work cannot really be done. It took a lot of time for me to understand that the way I see things is completely different from the way the people around me see them. Many people in my life have had contrasting reactions to my photos. Some didn't like them, and some loved them. But the important part is that the choice of taking a picture should be based on what "you" want and what "you" like, not what others will like. And there will always be people with opposite reactions to your photos, but you can't let it affect the way you take them. Even if the reaction was positive. Each has their own unique style of perception, and no one can say that one is the best. People should stop trying to compare themselves to another photographer and try to take pictures in the way that they find them beautiful. It is all about seeing and feeling when it comes to photography, according to me.

Perception grows and changes with us as we grow. One can develop this perception by getting exposed to various things and not closing themselves off. The more exposure to new things, the more unique the work becomes. But one's perception shouldn't be copied from another's style. It's the way they interpret that and view it based on their own unique viewing.

As a photographer who wants to explore many other fields, I came to learn that it's important to have an open mind. Just because I am comfortable with one particular style, I should not close myself off to other styles. There should be equal efforts made to try other styles, no matter how hard or how out of our comfort zone they are. What I would emphasise the most is to just keep trying, no matter what. You got this! Don't listen to the negative haters. :)
